General Discussion
Just Updated
Putting the old content of this page here so it can be preserved under Retrospective later...
Missions are one of the Multi-player features in BigFarm that encourage Collection and Selling competitions between farmers. Click on the icon with the Blue Ribbon to browse available Missions. Each Mission gives a task that needs to be started at a certain time and finished within the duration given. You'll want to make sure you are online from start to finish and have a good strategy if you hope to win.
Some Missions are given as part of the quest line and need to be done if you want the reward, however, you can choose whether or not to participate in this aspect of the game beyond that.
Most Missions need a certain number of Reputation Points to start and you can lose them if you don't win, but the game will allow you to compete anyway even if you have none, so you can try to win them back. The Reputation Point cost per Mission depends on the Mission.
The maximum number of farmers that can participate is 10. In most cases, they are all around the same level, but mismatches have been known to happen. The upcoming rework of Missions is supposed to address this and other issues.
All participants are rewarded, but the best prizes are reserved for the Top Three most productive farmers. Rewards include Farm Cash, Gold, Experience Points, and additional Reputation Points. The amount of each depends on how you rank at the end next to other Farmers.
Strategies
- Use Farm Boosters
- Books from the Library
- Humus on Fields, Gardens, & Meadows
- Make sure production facilities are upgraded as high as you can go
- Plant or start production of the item you'll need to collect early, but wait to harvest it until after the Mission starts
Player Criticism & Controversies
- Gold gives unfair advantages to some players
- Competitor levels and abilities are often not well matched
- Since all participants are rewarded no matter what, they can join Missions just for the consolation prize, even if it means losing Reputation Points.
Hello, my name is Sennea and I'm addicted to the BigFarm Addiction wiki.
lol
I made some for this wiki if anyone wants to use them...
http://big-farm-addiction.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Infobox_templates
Others can be made too. Any ideas or requests?
- Can we rename this page to "Start a Mission"?
Productions in relation to Missions are described on the other pages.
- This article seems to be a combination of opinions, ranting, and facts. I'm not sure what the standards are, but am guessing the pages should be more focused on giving the objective facts and details about the topic - not blasting readers with hot air or things the author finds personally frustrating.
As opinons can contain valid points, maybe they can be included under a "Criticism" heading instead of mixing them up with with descriptions and instructions. Also, if we're going by wiki conventions; avoid using "I" and "Me", or writing in the first-person point of view.
Eg.,
An Unfair advantage some farmers have is the size of their windmill
For this mission I were the only one with a level 3 windmill.
So evey farmer produses 6 Chicken feed where I prodused 9.
As seen on top I was 8 min before end in second place.
So what I did was to load only thirty feeds instead of ninety so that I can load the last ninety before the end of the mission.
That is how I won. I did it because the first player was using gold which is another unfair advantge.
How bad do you want to won? It is caled strategy.
Be fair to other farmers. Winning is not worth eveything.
While it's all related to Missions and may be factual (currently, but when the update comes, that might change significantly), it is the author's perspective and some of it might be more appropriate on a page about Player Etiquette or in someone's personal gaming journal/memoirs/blog.
Sometimes the layout of pages is easier to manage under the Source tab, instead of Visual. Visual gives easy access to editing the configuration of galleries and slideshows, but not quite WYSIWYG.
I like to check out the Big Farm Forum from time to time but I've been unable to register so I can actually post anything. It says that registration has been closed by the administrator. Will this ever change?
Hello,
The wiki is looking great! :) Well done to all.
There is one thing that occurred for possible adding if it's not in there already...
Doing Research is similar to waiting for a building to finish construction and is thus, not as involved or hands-on as the Collection projects are. There is not nearly as much work to do as actually researching a topic (the word calls up images of reading a lot, being very time consuming, etc). But it's just sign up, pass the time, and go enjoy life.
The hardest part seems to be getting everyone to Cooperate and register for them, lol. When people first start out, what "research" actually entails isn't made very clear in the game.
Hey everyone,
There is an option to have a chat room on the wiki. What do you think?
Positives? Negatives?
All feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks. :)
Kat.
